Marble protection matters. MORE™ AntiEtch™ forms an ultra-thin, near-invisible barrier that defends natural stone against damage from acidic foods, wine, coffee, and everyday household cleaners

Enhance the Hub of Your Home

Marble benchtops always turn heads. But it’s important that it’s for the right reasons. When staining, scratching, or dullness begins to take over, the surface can quickly lose its appeal. That’s where we come in. With professional restoration, your marble’s best days aren’t behind it; they’re simply one careful restoration away.

For over 25 years, we’ve been trusted by Sydney homeowners as specialists in marble and natural stone restoration, delivering finishes that are refined, durable, and made to last.

As Australia’s first certified applicators and long-standing importers of MORE™ AntiEtch™, we bring unmatched expertise in protecting marble from staining and etching, ensuring your stone not only looks exceptional, but stays that way.

Don’t settle for Average Results. Your Marble Deserves the Best.

Whether your benchtop is lightly worn or heavily damaged, small or expansive, we treat every surface with the same level of expertise, precision, and care.

The reality is, restoring marble without protecting it properly only delivers short-term results. Without the correct protection, surfaces quickly lose their finish, leading to repeated issues and ongoing maintenance.

That’s why our approach is different. When you choose Complete Stone Care, you’re choosing proven methods, long-term reliability, and genuine peace of mind. We eliminate guesswork, avoid shortcuts, and apply the right techniques refined over thousands of restored marble benchtops, so the finish doesn’t just look exceptional, it lasts.

Don’t risk your benchtops with inexperienced, low-priced contractors. Call our specialists at Complete Stone Care today for a free in-home assessment.

Not every benchtop is marble. Other stones are handled through natural stone benchtop restoration. Where there is a chip or a crack rather than surface wear, that is stone repair, and permanent protection afterwards is MORE AntiEtch.

Our Process

Our ‘unique’ process has been developed to ensure predictable results every time. Here’s how it works.

1

Inspection

Every job starts the same way: with a trained eye. Our experts look at everything, from dull spots, etching, stains, to anything else that needs attention.

2

Preparation

Where others might rush, we take the time to carefully mask and protect all your surrounding areas, from your cupboards to your appliances and surrounding joinery.

3

Careful Preparation

Depending on what’s required, we carefully treat your stone to remove old coatings, grime, and imperfections, restoring a clean, uniform surface ready for the MORE™ AntiEtch™ application.

4

MORE™ AntiEtch™

A protective coating like no other. After careful restoration, we provide your benchtop with proper protection that lasts a lifetime.

Bringing Your Marble Benchtops Back to Life

It’s true, benchtops take a beating. Thankfully, we’ve brought thousands back to life. But what most people miss is that restoration is just the beginning.

Having worked with every type of natural stone, we understand exactly how each surface responds. We remove stains, repair chips and cracks, and reseal stone correctly, restoring not just its appearance, but its hygiene, safety, and integrity.

What sets us apart is our focus on longevity. We don’t just make stone surfaces look good; we keep them that way. Not just for now, but for years. Stone that’s treated properly shouldn’t require constant attention.

Marble Benchtop Polishing and Honing

Restoring a marble benchtop is a mechanical process, not a coating. We work the stone itself with progressively finer diamond abrasives until the damage is gone and the finish is rebuilt. Nothing is sprayed on to hide anything.

How far up the sequence we go is your call:

Polished gives you the reflective finish with maximum depth of colour and veining. It looks superb and it shows every etch mark, which is why it asks more of you day to day.

Honed gives you a smooth matte or satin surface. It hides etching and fine scratching far better, because there is no gloss for the marks to contrast against. In a kitchen that gets used properly, honed is very often the more practical choice, and it is what we suggest more than people expect.

Either finish can be changed later. A polished benchtop can be taken back to honed, and a honed benchtop can be brought up to a polish, without replacing anything. If you want the longer explanation, we have written one on honing versus polishing natural stone.

Most kitchens are a one-day job, done in place, with dust extraction so you get your kitchen back the same day.

Chip, Crack and Scratch Repair on Stone Benchtops

Damage to a benchtop almost never means replacing it. The things we deal with routinely:

  • Chipped edges. Usually along the sink cut-out, the cooktop cut-out or a bullnose edge. Filled with a colour-matched resin, shaped and refinished.
  • Chipped corners. Island ends and returns take the knocks. Rebuilt and reshaped.
  • Cracks. Often around a sink or cooktop where the stone is at its narrowest. Cut out, filled and stabilised.
  • Scratches. Honed out completely rather than filled, because they sit in the surface layer of the stone.
  • Dull, worn patches. The area in front of the sink or the main prep zone loses its finish first. Refinished back to match the rest of the bench.
  • Failed seams. Joins that have opened or discoloured can be cut out and rejoined.

We work on marble, granite, limestone, travertine and engineered stone benchtops. Engineered stone behaves differently to natural stone and there is less we can do with it, so we will be straight with you about what is realistically achievable before we start.

Removing Etch Rings, Water Marks and Stains

This is the single most common reason people call us about a marble benchtop, and it is worth understanding what is actually happening.

Etch marks are not stains. Marble is calcium carbonate. Anything acidic reacts with it and eats a microscopically shallow crater into the surface. Wine, lemon, vinegar, tomato, fizzy drinks, and a surprising number of supermarket cleaners will all do it. The result is a dull ring or splash mark that is lighter than the surrounding stone. No cleaner will remove it, because there is nothing sitting there to clean off. It is refinished out.

Stains are the opposite. Oil, coffee, red wine left overnight, rust from a tin left on the bench. These soak into the stone and are darker than the surrounding marble. They are drawn back out with a poultice, which is a slow process rather than a scrub.

Plenty of benchtops have both, and knowing which is which changes the treatment entirely. If you are not sure what you are looking at, a photo usually tells us.

Once the surface is restored, the question becomes how to stop it happening again, which is where a protective coating rather than a conventional sealer comes in. An impregnating sealer slows staining but does nothing at all for etching. That distinction is the whole reason we use MORE AntiEtch.

Kitchen Benchtops, Islands, Vanities and Tables

The same work applies wherever the stone is.

Kitchen benchtops and islands. The bulk of what we do. Etch rings, worn prep zones, chipped sink cut-outs.

Bathroom vanity tops. Different problems: toothpaste, cosmetics, hard water marking around the tap and the basin, and cleaning products that were never meant for stone.

Splashbacks and feature walls. Vertical work, generally lighter duty but slower to set up.

Marble tables and furniture tops. Coffee tables, dining tables and side tables all restore well, and these often carry the worst ring marking of anything in a house.

Commercial counters and bar tops. Reception desks, bar tops and retail counters, usually scheduled outside trading hours.

Living With a Restored Marble Benchtop

We would rather you got years out of the work than called us back in eighteen months, so here is the honest version.

  • Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth. Not vinegar, not lemon, not bleach, not bicarb, not a generic spray.
  • Wipe acidic spills straight away rather than at the end of the evening.
  • Use boards and coasters, mainly for the ring marks rather than for scratching.
  • Keep scouring pads and cream cleansers away from it entirely.
  • Have the protection checked periodically rather than waiting for marks to appear.

Marble is not a low-maintenance surface and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it is, uniquely among benchtop materials, is endlessly renewable. A marble bench can be brought back to new condition again and again over decades, which is something engineered stone cannot offer. Our marble benchtop care guide goes into the day-to-day side in more detail.

FAQs

Here are some common questions about our stone care services.

Complete Stone Care stone restoration display at a Sydney trade show
How long does a typical stone restoration service take?

This depends on the scope of work. A benchtop may take a few hours, while larger floor areas can take one to two days. We don’t rush the process; we work methodically, restore the surface properly, and leave it in noticeably better condition than when we started.

While DIY kits are widely available, they rarely deliver consistent or lasting results. Marble requires specialised tools, products, and experience to restore safely and effectively. Without the correct process, it’s easy to cause further damage. Professional restoration ensures the stone is treated properly from the outset.

Yes. Scratches are one of the most common issues we handle. Surface-level marks can often be polished out, while deeper scratches may require more targeted restoration. We use professional methods to restore the finish of your stone, without any shortcuts or guesswork.

No. Sealing protects against moisture and wear, not physical damage.

Simple measures like felt pads can reduce scratching with heavy furniture, and if damage does occur, the surface can be professionally restored to its original finish.

Most professional services might last you a few years or even less, depending on how often the surface is used. But with us, we make sure you get the most out of your marble surfaces.

We work across the Sydney metro area, including the CBD, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Hills District, and Sutherland Shire, with all types of stone restoration issues.

Yes. Etch marks are damage to the surface of the stone rather than something sitting on top of it, so they are refinished out with diamond abrasives rather than cleaned off. Absorbed stains are a separate problem and are drawn out with a poultice.
Very little, but there are limits worth knowing. A benchtop broken clean through and moving at the break, or a slab that has failed at a badly supported cut-out, sometimes cannot be made structurally sound again. Colour matching on heavily veined stone can also be imperfect on a large fill. We will tell you on site if we think a repair will be visible, rather than doing it and hoping you do not notice.
Yes. On a larger job we can work a discreet test area, often a return bench or an end panel, so you can look at honed and polished on your own stone under your own lighting before committing. Photographs online rarely tell you what a particular slab will do.
No, and this is worth understanding before you spend money. Marble and other natural stone are refinished by working the stone itself, so the finish can be rebuilt repeatedly. Engineered stone is a resin-bound product, so the options are narrower, heat damage is generally permanent, and deep chips are harder to make invisible. We will give you a realistic expectation before starting rather than after.
A single benchtop is often a few hours. A full kitchen with an island and returns is usually a day. The work is done in place with dust extraction running, so the room stays workable while we are there, and the bench is generally back in normal use the same day it is finished.
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding we come across. An impregnating sealer slows liquid absorption and helps with staining, but etching is a chemical reaction with the stone surface itself. Preventing etching needs a protective coating designed specifically for that purpose.

Still Not Convinced?

Your benchtop deserves proper care. If it’s stained, scratched, or no longer looking the way it should, we can help.

We’ll assess your surface in person at no cost, with no obligation, but just honest advice on what’s required and how we’d restore it.

Once we do the work, it’s done right. That commitment is what has built our reputation over more than 25 years.

Our specialised restoration process, which comes from years of experience in our industry, breathes new life into your stone surfaces, rejuvenating their lustre and giving your floor a fresh new lease on life. Whether it be limestone, marble floor polishing or bench top restorations, we cover it all.

Inspection & Assessment

All floor polishing restoration or repair work requires pre inspections. The first step in our stone restoration process is a thorough inspection of your marble, granite, or limestone surfaces. We identify the type of damage—such as cracks, stains, or etching—and determine the best techniques to restore each specific stone. Obviously as you can see, no two jobs are ever the same when it comes to preparing various stone surfaces. Whether it’s a kitchen countertop, hotel lobby floor, or residential bathroom vanity, we tailor our approach to achieve optimal results or your requirements. Satisfied customers are happy customers.

Professional Stone Cleaning & Preparation

Once we have established the type of damage your stone surfaces are suffering from, we have stone repair experts and trained technicians deep-clean your stone to remove dirt, grime, and any embedded contaminants.

We only ever use professional-grade cleaning equipment for cleaning and restoring natural damaged stone surfaces.

Proper cleaning ensures that the subsequent steps—like honing or polishing—are done on a surface free of debris, allowing for a truly flawless finish without scratches or imperfections left behind on the completion phase.

We go every step to ensure that before we commence polishing, your surfaces are 100% spotless from imperfections. This just ensures a shine that is just pure glass.

Stone Sealing & Protection

The final pass is always about protecting the achieved flawless finish and ensuring it lasts for as long as possible, considering the foot traffic which will be using your surfaces. The final pass is a protective sealant. This protective sealant is applied to guard against future spills, stains, and wear. Sealing helps maintain the newly restored finish and makes routine cleaning easier. Our advanced sealers are designed to penetrate the pores of each stone type, providing long-lasting defence against moisture and contaminants your stone surfaces may experience throughout their lifetime.
